These are the primary responsibilities of a game localization project manager:

Establish and maintain long-term relationships with clients and increase their loyalty and order volume by providing a high level of service and localization quality in accordance with the client's internal criteria and requirements.

What you'll need to do on a daily basis:

  • proactively react to clients' requests — our clients are everything to us
  • determine the client's requirements and do everything you can to help them
  • make sure the localized product meets the client's requirements — this is important to the client and even more important to us
  • analyze the source material — otherwise it won't be possible to get the job done right
  • plan the technology to be used in the localization project — every project is different
  • create a workflow schedule — you can't have a project without a plan
  • recruit suitable linguists to the team from the available base while factoring in their strengths and weaknesses
  • distribute tasks to linguists — you're the boss
  • oversee task completion — like we said, you're the boss
  • avoid problems — keep your finger on the project's pulse
  • solve problems proactively — sometimes they'll crop up despite your best efforts
  • evaluate the project's profitability and do everything you can to increase it — this is a business, after all
  • maintain long-term relationships with clients
  • facilitate an increase in the number of orders
  • offer alternative process-optimization options — we never stand still
  • help your manager manage the department
  • develop your skill set and become a manager yourself
