These are the primary responsibilities of a game localization project manager:
Establish and maintain long-term relationships with clients and increase their loyalty and order volume by providing a high level of service and localization quality in accordance with the client's internal criteria and requirements.
What you'll need to do on a daily basis:
proactively react to clients' requests — our clients are everything to us
determine the client's requirements and do everything you can to help them
make sure the localized product meets the client's requirements — this is important to the client and even more important to us
analyze the source material — otherwise it won't be possible to get the job done right
plan the technology to be used in the localization project — every project is different
create a workflow schedule — you can't have a project without a plan
recruit suitable linguists to the team from the available base while factoring in their strengths and weaknesses
distribute tasks to linguists — you're the boss
oversee task completion — like we said, you're the boss
avoid problems — keep your finger on the project's pulse
solve problems proactively — sometimes they'll crop up despite your best efforts
evaluate the project's profitability and do everything you can to increase it — this is a business, after all
maintain long-term relationships with clients
facilitate an increase in the number of orders
offer alternative process-optimization options — we never stand still
help your manager manage the department
develop your skill set and become a manager yourself
